#023 Mobile Phone (Ringing)

Everyone has a mobile phone these days, and to distinguish their phone from others people must diversify their ringtone. This I do not have a problem with.

What I DO have a problem with is turning your phone up to an unreasonable volume in traditionally quiet places like an office (work, doctor, dentist), a library or any other public building.

I understand if your work environment is generally noisy and you must keep it loud while you're working in order to hear it. But if you must return to your desk or other quiet office-type area, please remember to turn your phone ringer down (preferrably OFF). Every modern cell phone has a vibrate feature, which can be used either in conjunction with the audible ringer or not. USE IT!

And if you happen to get a call in a quiet area and your ringer is at it's loudest setting, PLEASE silence the ringer before you take the call! Don't just sit there and let it ring and ring until you get around to looking at who's calling you, let alone actually answering the phone.
